FrontCoverUsingRUsing R

R is a great tool for exploring statistics, but not if the process of getting to know the R statistical computing environment gets in the way learning about statistics.  Using R tries to develop a solid foundation of R skills, while putting statistical procedures aside.  Once you have worked your way along the R learning curve with this book, R should become a tool for exploring statistics, rather than a source of all those small problems that can get in the way.

Elementary Statistical Modelling breaks down the process of learning modern linear model-based statistical techniques down into many small pieces.  Linear models are extremely general, allowing a great diversity of different types of questions to be addressed by biologists, all within a single unified system.  With this power comes a large array of areas to get bogged down, to misinterpret results, and just to get mentally overloaded.  Elementary Statistical Modelling tackles the range of linear modelling techniques, one small piece at a time.  Areas where frustrations and misinterpretations commonly arise are tackled carefully and completely, one by one.

Elementary Statistical Modelling is currently in development, and still contains various minor blemishes.  Copies are being used in two modules for undergraduate students in the Fall 2018 term.  Feedback is greatly appreciated to help improve this volume.
